The Wilkie Brewers will travel the short distance to Cardinal field in Unity May 27 for their first baseball game of the 2014 North Saskatchewan River Baseball League season. The game will also be the first of the season for the Unity Cardinals.
On the Brewers’ side of the field, most players from last year will be back on the field. Mitch Neilsen has left and Trent Cey is out, recovering from knee surgery.
The Wilkie team has added another arm to the pitching rotation, with David Schell joining them for the season.
Brewers’ player/manager Aaron Sittler said, for his team, “The main thing is to get into the playoffs, to make the top eight in the league.”
The Brewers are coached by long-time player/coach Bye Braun.
Both teams are looking forward to the May 27th game, each anxious to get the jump on their rivals right off the bat.
